What is Carrier Offloading?

What is Carrier Offloading.webp

Carrier offloading is similar to adding a miniature cell tower at your business that runs on WIFI. Based on your location and surrounding cellular coverage, cell companies can choose to use your location to enhance their coverage.  When this happens, every pic and every text that gets sent on your network, along with calls and web searches qualify as opportunities to earn micropayments.

If you currently have poor cellular coverage at your venue, this may help eliminate slow data speeds or dropped calls at your location. Venues with good cell coverage help guests stay longer and eliminate the need for guest networks.  Although, we may be able to assist with adding a network at the same time that doesn't require your staff to give out passwords if you would like to like to request one.

FAQ's

What is cellular carrier offload?

Basically we add wifi equipment that acts as a mini cell tower for any phone. Cell companies also buy traffic from these devices on the network, allowing these companies to access stronger or more affordable coverage to enhance their own networks. As a result, your venue will get rewarded for this work.

What do I need to provide as host location?

At a minimum we are looking for high foot traffic locations with existing internet with 120Mbps down and 12Mbps up speeds and an available RJ-45 ethernet connection.

Is this safe for my Network?

This wireless network supports the core function which is to provide coverage to authorized subscribers.

The network is deployed in WPA3 mode, which is the industry standard for Wi-Fi protocols. WPA3 introduces expanded support for modern cryptographic algorithms to protect network traffic.

Authentication to the Cellular Mobile Wi-Fi network occurs using Passpoint 2.0, where each authorized device must present a certificate. No password is used for authentication, which means no password to brute-force!

In addition, all traffic is linked to specific devices and subscribers.

Another benefit of our wireless deployment is that we can enforce client isolation, which is not feasible for most wireless networks. For example, a laptop and a printer are clients of a network and need to communicate, we can isolate clients entirely. The only communication allowed is between the user’s device and the internet. Users’ devices cannot communicate with one another, preventing traditional network attacks.

Another security feature of Hotspots that applies to both Mobile and Wi-Fi networks is the Host LAN Blocking feature. This feature blocks any traffic from a Cellular Network user from accessing devices in the host network.

How much can I earn?

It is variable and based on the amount of data that flows through the network on a monthly basis.  Your customer's mobile devices earn you zero dollars without this.
